Ala's gifts were star crossed with with his innate determination and perfectionism. Tragically, these traits that made him such a celebrated artist ultimately lead to his death. Painting has always been known as one of the most dangerous activities known to man. Ala's use of gas heat to maintain his requirement for perfect room temperature balance while he creates his masterpieces resulted in a carbon monoxide leak. He died just as he signed his last piece titled "Mourning Dawn under the Banana Tree."
Critics have tried to define this tapestry of mastery only to find that the painting in turn defines them. One can see into one's soul looking at "Mourning Dawn under the Banana Tree" as if the painting was a mere mirror. Victor Gaines, who is one of the world's most followed art critics on twitter, has given up trying to summarize the feeling that "Mourning Dawn under the Banana Tree" evokes. He writes:
"While this work seems to pierce my soul and critique my self so simply, I can not do the same trying to comprehend it. I will put my ego aside, as I know there's no possible way to explain this work in 140 characters or less. #ohmygoshthisworksodamngood"
